Soup-er Bowl!

Yay ~ we are saying a happy good-bye to January.  Winter....your days are numbered!  This week we continue with part 4 of our 6 part study series.  Our adult & youth groups will meet at their regular time, followed by the worship hour, & then potluck!  The  theme is of course, “Soup-er Bowl” in honor of the big game in Arizona this Sunday.  Bread bowls will be provided....so bring a favorite soup or salad to share.  There will also be drink, crackers & soup toppings provided.  Of course, we love to have you join us even if you don’t bring a single thing ~ we always have plenty!

FYI....This is our last week to collect items for “Youth Arbor Services” (a Lexington shelter for teens/families).  They are still in need of twin sheet sets, pillows, & towels (preferably white so they can be bleached).  Thank you!  What we have collected will be displayed on a table in the fellowship area so folks can see what BGSC will be donating.

NOTE ~ For the first two weeks of February, BGSC will be writing Valentine cards for shut ins & others who could use a note of love & cheer!  Look for Valentine cards & Valentine making supplies on a table in the fellowship area during potluck.  We’d love your help!  If you would like to donate cards or chocolates....that would be great.  And, if you have a friend or family member who could use one of our cards.....please bring their address with you!  On Valentine’s Day, we will deliver cards, chocolates & flowers to a local nursing home.

Don’t forget to invite your friends & family to “like” BGSC’s Facebook page!  You can find us under Bluegrass Simple Church.  Click “share” under any of our posts or links, & voila...it will appear on your own personal FB home page.  You can also write a “review” of BGSC & post it on our page ~ giving it 1 to 5 stars.  There is also an option under the main heading called “invite friends to like this page.”  Click that, & a list of your FB friends will pop up & you can invite them personally.  Thank you!  We approaching 100 likes & appreciate SO much the support and prayers from all of our FB friends and family.

Is anyone interested in making dinner at the Ronald McDonald House again this year?  Does anyone have another community project they think BGSC could participate in?  Looking for new outreach ideas!

Please forward us your prayer requests as we are trying to compile an updated list!

Prayer Requests

Do you have a request you would like our BGSC family to lift up in prayer?  Please leave a comment here and we will add it to our list.

Little Italy

Here we are ~ nearly halfway through the month of January & Valentine’s Day is just 4 weeks away.  Wow!  Before we know it BGSC will be celebrating it’s 4th anniversary!

We will continue with part two of our new six-part series this week.  Our potluck theme is, “Little Italy” & we’ll be celebrating a birthday.  Pasta & several sauces will be provided, along with a huge “Olive Garden” themed salad, garlic bread, drink & birthday dessert.  Feel free to bring a side dish of your choice or nothing at all.....as you know, we ALWAYS have mountains of food to share!

FYI....Youth Arbor Services (a local Lexington shelter for teens/families) is still in need of twin sheet sets, pillows, & towels (preferably white so they can be bleached).

Last week the pastor of Twin Pines CC celebrated her 10 year anniversary with their congregation.  On behalf of BGSC, we presented her with a card & a gift edition of The Desire of Ages.  Just wanted to let you all know!  She has been really wonderful to work with & we are blessed to be able to meet together each Sabbath in such a delightful space.

THANK YOU!  We delivered a load of blankets to the Salvation Army this week & they were thrilled.  These bitter temps have depleted their supplies & so they were very grateful for our donations.

Thank you!

New Year, New You

Happy New Year 2015!  As we make goals for this coming year, let this be our prayer..."Jesus, let your thoughts become my thoughts & bend my will to your will."  It's such a comfort to know that Jesus knows everything about you...nothing is hidden from His eye...& not only does He like to be with you, He's wild about you!"  Let's pray to be emboldened as a group in sharing Jesus with Lexington this year!

Our potluck theme this week is, "New Year, New You."  Rumor has it that any lucky/healthy dish will do.....here's what's already coming....cornbread, collards, blackeye peas, stewed okra/tomatoes, salad, and bubbly!!!

FYI....a local Lexington shelter is in desperate need of blankets!!!  They are trying to collect 150.  If you have new or gently used blankets you could contribute, we'll be doing a drop-off sometime this next week on behalf of BGSC.  Thanks!
