Oktoberfest

Join us this weekend for a light bite of breakfast, fellowship time, Bible study, praise, worship service & lunch.  Our potluck theme is “Oktoberfest.”  If possible, bring a “German” dish of your choice to share.....or some fall or German decorations for our buffet table!  Happy Anniversary (today) to Stephanie and Frank Wells!

We are looking at dates for our annual bonfire social in October.  Let us know if you and your family will be on vacation or if there is a particular weekend that works well for y’all...

If you have a friend or relative who would appreciate a card....please give us their name and address and we will add them to the list.  We are also collecting blank cards, stickers and stamps.  Thank you!

BGSC is still collecting new rolls of soft baby yarn (in any color) for hats being knitted & given to newborn babies in the UK NICU here in town.  Thank you!  We are also collecting notecards of any kind (sympathy, congratulatory, encouragement etc...).

Dear BGSC Family & Friends,

Happy Dawg Days of Summer!  Join us this Sabbath for a light bite of breakfast, fellowship time, Bible study, praise, worship service & lunch.  Our potluck theme is “State Fair Faves.”  If possible, bring a “fair treat” or dish of your choice to share......or “fair” decorations for our buffet!

This past Tuesday “Little Ben” Greeman celebrated his 5th birthday, and this Friday Bridgette will celebrate her birthday!  Next week Christy Greeman celebrates her birthday on August 29 and Coach & Suzanne celebrate their wedding anniversary on the same day.  Then on August 31 Judy Dawahare celebrates her birthday.  Happy Birthday and Anniversary y’all!

A big shout out to Stephanie Wells who is helping us with our youth class!  She has already compiled a list of great outreach ideas for our kiddos to start working on....yay!

We are taking up a freewill offering for a young lady here in town who is just 17 (nearly 18) and getting ready to start college at UK this week.  Her father died in February and her grandmother died not long after.  Finding herself homeless....she came to live with a friend’s parents here in Lex.  She is a 4.0 student who graduated from Henry Clay this spring despite a lot of setbacks in her young life.  If you would like to help.....we are raising $$ to aid her with entrance fees for college.  Melia is coordinating with her friend who this sweet young lady is living with.  Thank you!

Patriotic Picnic

Happy Memorial Day Weekend (& the unofficial beginning of Summer)!  We hope you and your family are feeling blessed beyond measure and we look forward to seeing you this weekend.  For those of you who’ve been away from our little bgsc family while traveling or battling illness.....you are missed!  Our potluck theme will be a “Patriotic Picnic” in honor of all the brave Americans who have given their lives for our country!
If possible, bring a favorite picnic side dish to share.  We also have several birthdays & anniversaries this month & we’ll be celebrating those during potluck....

Can you believe it’s been four years since BGSC started meeting at Twin Pines Christian Church?  Wow!  Where does time go?!


Our newest youth class ~ “Cradle Roll” ~ will premier on July 1st!  If you’re interested in helping us out with the little ones (ages 0-4) ~ please let us know!

Don’t forget to bring your prayer requests each week ~ we have index cards available so you can make notes & share them during the worship service.
We love participation in our worship service and potluck....so if you would like to sing, play a song, read a scripture, tell a children’s story, or host/decorate for/or plan a future potluck....please let us know.  And, if you would like to coordinate a community volunteer activity for our group, we are always searching for new ideas!

Let's Luau

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  Where did the summer go?!  We are looking forward to seeing you & your family this weekend for praise, worship, Bible study, fellowship, & food.  We are still in the midst of our sermon series “Joseph’s Technicolor Coat.”

Our potluck theme is “Let’s Luau.”  Don’t miss it ~ we’ll be celebrating ALL of our August AND September birthdays...and a wedding anniversary!

FYI....We are collecting non perishable items for Dominica following the hurricane last week.  Folks there are in desperate need.  A friend of one of our BGSC family members has family in Dominica.....they will be sending a crate soon.  We will add our items to theirs!  Thank you!

Would anyone be interested in a Sabbath afternoon hike/supper this fall?  Would anyone like to organize?

Cape Cod Cook-Out

Happy Labor Day weekend.  We have several birthdays and an anniversary to celebrate this weekend as well!

Our potluck theme this last weekend of August is "Cape Cod Cook-Out!"  We'll enjoy "scallop" rolls (veggie version of lobster rolls!), old bay potato chips, green salad with craisins/blueberries/goat cheese/pecans, cranberry iced tea, & dessert!

NOTE - Soccer practice with Coach is ON for this Sunday!  Join us at the Schmidt's @ 9 am....

COMING UP:

September 6 - Potluck theme will be "Let's Luau" as we drag our feet & kiss summer goodbye....

September 13 - Potluck theme will be "Patriotic Picnic" in honor of Patriot Day, September 11.

September 20 - Potluck theme will be "Oktoberfest."

September 27 - Potluck theme will be  "Fall Fav's."

October 4 - Potluck theme will be "Keeneland Kick-off."

Oasis by the Ocean

This weekend our potluck theme will be, "Oasis by the Ocean" featuring Mediterranean specialities including Greek salad, lemon hummus, olives/feta/falafels/pita bread, stuffed grape leaves, salata, stuffed squash, tabbouleh salad, & baklava.

We have two special celebrations including a baptism anniversary &  birthday!

The youth group will continue running their LemonAID stand during potluck for the next 2 weeks....so bring your loose change!  This initiative benefits homeless kids right here in the Bluegrass!

FYI - a local shelter is in need of 2 window air conditioner units & youth and/or adult sized bathing suits.  See Melia for more details...

NOTE - sorry kiddos....soccer practice with Coach is cancelled for the next two Sunday's ;(

COMING UP:

July 26 - Potluck theme will be "Christmas in July" featuring RED lasagna, GREEN salad, "grinchy" garlic bread, a lil' cranberry sparkly juice & holiday dessert!

August 3 - Potluck theme will "Nautical Nosh" featuring "yogi" sandwiches, cool summer salads, & birthday cake!  We'll be celebrating several birthdays.

Happy 2nd Birthday, BGSC

BGSC will have its 2-year anniversary celebration next Sabbath, July 6!  We will have a special service followed by a good 'ol Adventist potluck featuring favorite SDA standby's such as loaded baked potatoes, Special K Loaf, jello salad, & lots of sides/veggies along with hot rolls, drink & a special anniversary cake! And if you are interested in doing something for the service (a reading, story, or special music, please let us know!!).
