Winter Pizza Party



 Happy Holidays folks!  As we welcome December, we wish you good health, family, friends, and the blessing of Christ’s birth.
As always, w
e look forward to seeing you & your family this weekend!  Our potluck theme is “Winter Pizza Party.”  Bring a favorite pizza topping, salad, or dessert to share...

We would like to go caroling one afternoon following potluck....please let us know if you’d like to participate and what Sat. afternoon would work best for your family.  Also, we hope to organize our annual ice skating party at Triangle Park downtown.  Any takers?


The adult Bible study will take place in the fellowship area by the fireplace while the youth meet in the adjacent side rooms.  Come enjoy a bite of breakfast or a hot drink before diving into the lesson study together.  And kiddos....come ready to write/color in your sketchbooks & have song service with our ukuleles!

Would anyone be willing to host a holiday movie night or game night at their home??



Our annual Christmas program will be here before we know it.....if you are willing to participate in music, song, prayer, scripture, or through a Christmas story....please let us know!  It will tentatively be held during the worship hour on Sabbath, December 24th....Christmas Eve!

Thanksgiving Dinner



Hello and welcome to the middle of November....it’s almost Thanksgiving!  This week (during potluck) BGSC will host a double baby shower for Christy Griffett Greeman & Sarah Jane Boyson Calvert (who are due with baby girls in January)!  Both ladies are registered at Buy Buy Baby.  We look forward to hosting all of the friends, family & guests they have invited to join us for this special occasion.

As always, we look forward to seeing you & your family too!  Our potluck theme is “Thanksgiving Dinner.”  Bring a favorite holiday dish to share.   We could still use a few sides & a few pies!  Last week we passed a sign up sheet around during potluck...so for reference, here is what we have coming already....

Dressed eggs
Stuffed celery sticks
Green bean casserole
Mashed potatoes & gravy
“Turkey & stuffing”
Cranberry sauce
Broccoli casserole
Corn pudding
Brussel sprouts
Macaroni & Cheese
Rolls, butter
Pumpkin Pie, whipped cream

This week is the last time we will collect items for the 2 Thanksgiving baskets we are giving to needy families.  Look for both of the “Thanksgiving Baskets” in the fellowship hall during potluck.  Here is a list of what we still need...

2 large cans of yams or sweet potatoes
2 bags of marshmallows
3 cans green beans
2 cans cranberry sauce
6 cans corn

2 bags baking potatoes
2 bags onions
2 pkgs gravy mix
2 boxes stuffing mix
2 boxes macaroni and cheese or rice
2 cake mix’s/2 cans frosting
oil
juice (sparkling grape or cranberry)

Chili & Cornbread



What beautiful fall weather we are enjoying here in the Bluegrass!  The horses are racing, the leaves are changing, and we are truly blessed.

Agape



We are looking forward to seeing you and your family at BGSC this weekend!  We will celebrate communion during our worship service and our potluck theme will be "Agape."  We’ll enjoy simple summer fare such as fresh fruits, breads, etc.  If desired, bring a favorite “Agape” themed dish to share.  Bring your spare change to purchase a cup of lemonade from our youth class’s LemonAID stand set up between Bible study and the worship service (to benefit our local Salvation Army).
NOTE....next week (July 30) BGSC will be hosting a small wedding shower for April Cook & Earl Kapule following our potluck meal!  We hope you can join us to celebrate this special couple.  They will be getting married next June in Hawaii!

All About Asian

Spanish Summer



Happy July 4th week!  A huge shout out to all those who came out to help us prepare dinner for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House last Friday evening!

Father's Day Dinner

OUTREACH NOTE ~ Our outreach project for May is a “baby shower” to benefit orphaned wildlife cared for by the KY Wildlife Center.  Ideas for donations include.....gently used/new baby washcloths, baby blankets, toys, stuffed animals, towels, kitchen size and 55 gallon trash bags, paper towels, Tide pods, Dawn dish soap, canned cat food, dry breakfast cereals, cookies (like mini vanilla wafers and fig newton's), pampers sensitive diaper wipes, etc.  Thank you for always coming through for those in need....both human and animal!

OUTREACH NOTE ~ Our outreach project for May is a “baby shower” to benefit orphaned wildlife cared for by the KY Wildlife Center.  Ideas for donations include.....gently used/new baby washcloths, baby blankets, toys, stuffed animals, towels, kitchen size and 55 gallon trash bags, paper towels, Tide pods, Dawn dish soap, canned cat food, dry breakfast cereals, cookies (like mini vanilla wafers and fig newton's), pampers sensitive diaper wipes, etc.  Thank you for always coming through for those in need....both human and animal!

Cinco de Mayo



April showers bring May flowers!   As always, we are looking forward to seeing you and your family at BGSC this weekend.  Our potluck theme is "Cinco de Mayo."   If desired, bring a favorite “Haystack” topping to share.  Look for the potluck team text going out tonight...


As usual...the adult Bible study will take place in the fellowship area by the fireplace while the youth meet in the adjacent side rooms.  Come enjoy a bite of breakfast or a hot drink before diving into the lesson study together.  And kiddos....come ready to do a special craft, write/color in your sketchbooks, & practice our new theme song on the ukuleles!

Off to Keeneland



Spring has sprung!  The weather forecast is looking gorgeous for this weekend!  We are looking forward to seeing you and your family at BGSC!  Our potluck theme is "Off to Keeneland!"  If desired, bring a favorite Spring or Kentucky themed dish to share.
As usual...the adult Bible study will take place in the fellowship area by the fireplace and the youth will meet in the adjacent side rooms.

NOTE ~ BGSC is still collecting “underwear for the underprivileged.”  In many orphanages overseas, there are simply not enough undergarments for the children housed in these facilities.  A friend in Jacksonville, FL who is adopting two teen boys from Ukraine is collecting packages of brand new underwear for youth (sizes 8 to 16).  Bring your items anytime in the next few weeks and they’ll be added to a box that will be shipped at the end of April.  Thank you for always coming through for those in need!

The Masters



Hey there April ~ we’re glad you’re finally here!  We are looking forward to seeing you and your family at BGSC this weekend!  Our potluck theme is "The Masters" in honor of the famous golf final being held this weekend in Augusta, GA.  If desired, bring a favorite Spring dish to share.  There will be several golf themed items such as the famous egg salad and pimiento cheese served to onlookers in Augusta....along with peach iced tea and other sides.  Feel free to get “golf creative.”  We will also celebrate any April birthdays or anniversaries!

Luck O’ the Irish Lunch



It’s finally feeling like Spring!!  Don’t forget to set your clocks forward this weekend!  Our Easter service is scheduled for March 19 & it’s beginning to take shape!  If you are interested in doing a musical number, a reading/scripture/poem, or helping with the decorations and/or brunch potluck to follow the service...please let us know...we’d love your input!  We would be thrilled for you to invite friends & family to join us that day...


Our adult study group will meet as usual in the fellowship area by the fireplace.  Bonnie always has a lovely breakfast spread for everyone to enjoy beside the crackling fire.....so come & enjoy it with us!   Our youth study groups continue to meet in the adjacent rooms.  The “ukulele choir” is working on a special number for the Easter service ~ hope you can join us ~ we have plenty of uke’s to go around in every color of the rainbow!

This week our potluck theme is “Luck O’ the Irish Lunch.”  Bring a favorite “St. Patrick’s” themed dish to share.  For those who help out in the kitchen ~ look for the “team potluck text”

NOTE ~ Arbor Youth Services here in Lex is housing a 19 year old woman who is pregnant with twins.  She is due any day and in need of baby items and financial assistance.  AYS is also in need of Wal-Mart gift cards for 18 year olds who come to them with nothing.  These cards would help purchase groceries and everyday household items.  See Melia if you can help!

All-American Potluck



Are you surviving the snow/slush/rain/fog this week?  I think we are all “ready freddie” for SPRING ~ it’s only 31 days away!  For those of you who have been away ~ we’ve missed you!  Our continued prayers are with those of you who have been under the weather or traveling.  We look forward to seeing you back at BGSC soon.  Thank you to everyone who participated in our Valentine service last week.  Our Easter service on March 26 is beginning to take shape ~ if you are interested in doing a musical number, a reading/scripture or poem, or helping with the decorations or brunch potluck to follow the service...let us know!  We would love for you to invite friends & family to join us...

Souper Bowl



Happy February!  We look forward to seeing each one of you at BGSC this weekend.  Our potluck theme is “Soup-er Bowl!”  If possible, bring a favorite pot of soup, salad, or appetizer to share.  Soup will be served in bread bowls....mmmmmmm!  We’ll be making Valentine’s for shut-in’s during potluck this week if you would like to bring craft supplies or cards.

Thanks to everyone who came out last Friday evening & prepared dinner at the Ronald McDonald House.  We had a lot of fun and a HUGE crowd.  The house manager said it was the biggest supper group she had ever seen.  We had the opportunity to cook for, eat with, pray for, & fellowship with a lot of lovely folks.  Check our Facebook page for pictures!

Chinese New Year



We look forward to seeing each one of you this weekend!  Our potluck theme is “Chinese New Year!”  If possible, bring a favorite Asian inspired dish to share....

Don’t forget that we will be preparing dinner at the Ronald McDonald House THIS Friday evening, January 29.  We will arrive at 5:00 to cook & then serve/eat dinner together at 7:00.  After consulting with the house manager at the RMH and finding out what the residents have already been served this week, we have decided on Chili (2 kinds), toppings, cornbread, dessert and lemonade.  Melia will be texting the “potluck team” with details about what to bring (sometime today).  Also, would any of you be willing to provide some dinner music?  Singing?  Playing an instrument?  Thank you!

BGSC CANCELLED TOMORROW!



It’s SNOWING!  And with more winter weather in our Lexington forecast through the weekend ~ we will CANCEL BGSC worship and potluck for tomorrow!  Please stay safe and warm!

Yesterday BGSC donated 70 bananas and 13 gallons of orange juice to a local downtown shelter that is preparing for an influx of homeless folks this weekend.  See the BGSC facebook page for more info...

Don’t forget that we will be preparing dinner at the Ronald McDonald House a week from tonight.....Friday, January 29.  We will arrive at 5:00 to cook...& serve dinner at 7:00.  More info coming on menu and music in the next few days....hope and your family can join us.

Winter Brunch



Its hard to believe ~ but we’ve made it to the halfway mark ~ January 16!   As always, we are looking forward to seeing you & your family this weekend.  Those of you who have been away for the extended holidays have been missed!  This week, our adult Bible study group will meet as usual in the fellowship area by the fire...while our youth groups meet in the side rooms to the right & left.  Potluck theme is “Winter Brunch!”  Bring a favorite brunch dish to share....

We had a lot of fun ice skating downtown at Triangle Park on Sunday evening...missed everyone who couldn’t make it!  The temps were very chilly....but hot cocoa and heaters made it a fun event!  We even witnessed a bride and groom jump out of their limo and run around the park/ice rink area taking selfies!  Ha!
