Punch, Paninis, & Pie

We hope everyone had a blessed & Merry Christmas!   As always, we are looking forward to seeing you & your family.  Our potluck theme this week is "Punch, Panini's & Pie!"  We'll have 3 hot panini makers at the ready.  Bring anything you would like to stuff in a panini sandwich (breads/cheeses/spreads/"turkey"/dressing/gravy/cranberry sauce/pickles etc)!  There will also be chips, salad, & pies.

FYI....we are still collecting sets of twin sheets & white towels (easy to bleach for Arbor Youth Services shelter use).  Thank you!  This will be our last week to collect....

Holiday Appetizer Extravaganza

We are looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend at BGSC!  Our potluck theme is "Holiday Appetizer Extravaganza!"  Bring your favorite appetizer (hot or cold) to share.  There will be a lot of yumminess....

BGSC is going caroling together at The Willows in Hamburg THIS Sabbath afternoon, December 13 after potluck.  We hope you can join us!  Bring an instrument if you have one, and some pre packaged Christmas candy to hand out...

FYI....we are still collecting gently used Christmas decorations for Youth Arbor Services (who have placed several families in homes that are without holiday decorations this year)...

NOTE:

Mark your holiday calendars!  BGSC will be having a small holiday get together at Judy & Georgia Gail Dawahare's home on Sunday afternoon, December 21st at 4:00 pm!

Don't forget...we will be helping Twin Pines Christian Church out with their live nativity on December 19 & 20 from 6-8 pm.

Our youth group will be going ice skating downtown @ Triangle Park NEXT Saturday night following the live nativity!  Hope you ALL can join us even if it's to cheer from the sideline's with hot cocoa :)

BGSC's Christmas service will be Sabbath, December 20th.  We will be having our own small "live" nativity scene!"  If you would like to read a story or poem, play or sing a song, or be involved ~ please see Suzanne Austin or Melia Schmidt!

Thanksgiving Dinner

We will be enjoying a Thanksgiving service along with a Thanksgiving Dinner potluck!  Here's the dishes that are already coming: Holiday Punch, "Turkey" & stuffing, Corn Pudding, Sweet potato casserole, Mashed potatoes/gravy, Fried okra, Relish tray, Stuffed celery, Cranberry sauce, Green bean casserole, Broccoli casserole, Rolls, Cookies, Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Watergate salad.

Feel free to bring any favorite Thanksgiving side dish!

THIS WEEK:  You will have the opportunity to write Christmas cards of encouragement, thanks and holiday cheer to be sent to members of our US Armed Forces (who cannot be with their families during the holidays this year).  Cards and pens will be provided....we hope you will take a moment to jot a few notes to our brave men and women in uniform!  All cards will be combined and given to the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program here in Lexington.  Thank you!

This will be the final weekend to bring canned goods for a needy family ~ bring a can or two to share if you have extra, and/or holiday paper products or drinks.  It will be delivered early next week...

FYI...a large portion of our small BGSC family will be "on the road" Thanksgiving weekend....spending time with family near, and far.  It is also a 5th Sabbath ~ which only happens a couple of times a year.  In light of this, we have decided to close our doors on Sabbath, November 29, so that everyone can be free to enjoy the weekend with their loved ones, and/or spend it out in the community serving neighbors, family & friends in the spirit of true thankfulness.  From now on, we may spend our 5th Sabbath's out in the community....spreading God's love & ministering to others.  Let us know what you think of the idea??!

Brown Bag Buffet

News flash....Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from today!  Whew!  BGSC is so thankful for each one of you ~ thank you for all you do to make our small group a success!  Your hard work, diligence, financial support, faithfull attendance, friendship & yummy food (ha) are what keeps us moving forward.  BGSC is blessed!

Please remember that Twin Pines Christian Church has on-going collections for empty prescription bottles, aluminum pop tabs, mini toiletry items, soup labels & both children/adult tennis shoes. There are containers in the fellowship hall for these items. For answers to questions about any of the above, please contact MarshaSams, TPCC OutReach Minister.

We have two special celebrations including a baptism anniversary &  birthday!

This weekend our potluck theme will be, "World Cup Wonder!"  Bring a German or Argentinean inspired dish to share.  The youth group will continue running their LemonAID stand during potluck for the next 3 weeks....so bring your loose change!  This initiative benefits homeless kids right here in the Bluegrass...

FYI....There is a young middle school aged girl here in Lexington who is still in desperate need of clothing/shoes/accessories (like socks, headbands, underwear etc).  Let us know if you are interested in participating & we can give you more info like sizing.  We are still collecting items this week/weekend.  Thank you!

BGSC's youth are having a ball playing soccer with Coach Austin this Summer!  Let us know if your kiddos are interested in a good workout.  Sunday morning's at 9 am @ the Schmidt's.  PS: Don't forget to catch the World Cup final this Sunday!

Happy 4th of July week!  Thanks to everyone who came out on Sunday evening to help us cook dinner at the Ronald McDonald House!

This weekend we will enjoy a patriotic service & fellowship dinner.  Our potluck theme will be, "Bluegrass BBQ"  featuring BBQ chickettes on sliders, salads, chips, & a big cake celebrating BGSC's 3-year anniversary & Sabrina's birthday.

The youth group will continue running a LemonAID stand during potluck for the next 4 weeks....so bring your loose change!  This initiate benefits homeless kids right here in the Bluegrass.

FYI....There is a young middle school aged girl here in Lexington who is in desperate need of clothing/shoes/accessories (like socks, headbands, underwear etc).  Let us know if you are interested in participating & we can give you more info like sizing.  We will collect items this week/weekend & get them to her ASAP.  Thank you!

COMING UP:

July 3, 7 pm - BGSC will attend the annual patriotic concert on the lawn @ Transylvania University (picnic @ 7, concert @ 8).  Bring a sandwich along & plan to join us......we'll all share chips, cookies, & drinks.  Text Melia or Andrew with questions regarding where to park, etc!

July 4, 7 am ~ join us for hot donuts & watch the early morning Lex 10k at the corner of Hanover & Richmond Road!  Police will close the roads down by 6:45 am, so come in via Tate's Creek Road if you arrive after that.  It's a ball ~ hope you can make it!  Bring a blanket or lawn chair.  There is a street fair & parade following the 10k if anyone is interested....

July 5 - BGSC will have its 3-year (patriotic) anniversary potluck/celebration (& we will also celebrate Sabrina's birthday)!   Please let us know if you would like to participate by reading a patriotic poem or singing/playing an All-American song!

July 8, 6:00 - BGSC will meet at the Red Mile for a fun evening at the Junior League Horse Show!  (Stick Horse Race is at 6:30 for those 9 & under).  Free tix for the show will be passed out this weekend.

July 12 & 13 - VBS @ Twin Pines where BGSC meets each week.  They have invited our kiddos to participate so let us know if you're interested!

Pizza Parlor

Our potluck theme this week will be "Pizza Parlor!"  Bring your fav pizza toppings including any fresh veggies or herbs from your garden.  We'll have "Olive Garden" inspired salad, Italian sodas & we'll celebrate Brad's birthday with banana splits!  We will also have a LemonAID stand at potluck (run by our youth) for the next 4 weeks....,,so bring your loose change!  This benefits homeless kids in the Bluegrass!

THIS SUNDAY.....BGSC will be making dinner for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House!  Join us at 5pm to cook.....serving time is 7:00.  Bring an apron!  We will all eat together with the residents.  If you are able to bring food supplies....text Melia & she will let u know what's still on the "need" list!  Thanks all!

Southern Belle Birthday Bash

Our potluck theme this week will be "Southern Belle Birthday Bash!"  We'll be celebrating Geneva's 90th Birthday with some of her favorite Southern dishes including sweet tea, layered pea salad, jello salad, baked mac n' cheese, green bean casserole, cornbread, & angel food cake with berries & whipped cream for starters.  Bring your fav Southern side dish to share!

Happy Father's Day Weekend to all the great dad's out there ~ but especially all of you who are a part of our BGSC family!

Welcome to June!  We start a new sermon series this week!

With a nod to Earth Day this week, our potluck theme will be none other than "Go Green" (featuring anything organic and/or fresh like salads, veggies & sides).  We will also be celebrating a special birthday lady....so cake & ice-cream will be served to balance out all the "green stuff".

Easter Bunny Brunch

Spring is in full bloom!  What a blessing to see all of the beautiful trees, shrubs, & flowers.  BGSC is looking forward to seeing you at TPCC this Easter weekend!

Tax Free Comfort Food Fest

FYI....Twin Pines Christian Church (where we meet) has invited BGSC kiddos to join them for their Easter Egg Hunt & Petting Zoo this Sabbath at 3:00 immediately following our BGSC potluck.  They will begin setting up at 2:00....

Lex Goes Tex

Next week's potluck theme  will be "Haystack Heaven" consisting of taco salad in a bag, "margarita" punch & key lime/mango pie!

Spring has Sprung

1 day 'till Spring!  Thursday the 20th had better be a sunny, warm, & altogether lovely day!  We hope to see you & your family at BGSC for Bible study, songs of praise, worship, fellowship & food.  We are looking forward to seeing you & yours at Twin Pines!  Our potluck theme is "Spring has Sprung" featuring everything green & fresh...including parsley potatoes, peas, herbed rolls, jello salad, & flower pot dirt cake!

valentine's weekend

Our potluck theme this week is, "In Love with Breakfast (for lunch)!"  You won't want to miss the homemade heart waffles with strawberries, whipped cream, warm syrup & powdered sugar (I promise you)!  Fresh squeezed OJ coming too....& homemade creamy hot cocoa.

Note....the youth will be making Valentine's again this week for folks in the nursing home & kiddos in the children's hospital.  Feel free to bring your favorite craft supplies to share.

Our worship service this week will include songs & scripture about the love of God on this Valentine's weekend!!

olympic fever & this week's outreach

Our potluck theme this week is "Olympic Fever" as the world converges on Sochi, Russia for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies tomorrow.  Let's celebrate with food from around the world...anything goes!

Souper Bowl Sabbath

Our potluck theme this week is of course, "Soup-er Bowl" as is our tradition on Super Bowl weekend!  Panera "bread bowls" green salad, & drinks will be provided....just bring your favorite soup, soup toppings, & crackers to share.  Desserts or appetizers welcome too!

Chinese New Year

Potluck theme this week is "Chinese New Year" so bring your favorite Asian inspired dish to share!  Rice, stir-fry, egg rolls, chopsticks, & fortune cookies provided.  We'll be celebrating all the January birthdays as well.

The Tuscan Table & Winter Movie Night
